This piece was cut from a Japanese maple over 150 years old.  In 1860, a Japanese family came to Oregon from Japan to serve on an estate. They brought with them two maple trees and planted them there. When the trees were cut in 2010, tiger stripe figure was found throughout the entire trunk.
